  Feb 24,  · This was a much better effort from Lightfoot with a good return to form with the majority of the songs. It sadly became a very poor selling album which is a shame because '14 Karat Gold', 'In my fashion', 'Thank you for the promises' and 'Baby Step Back' are good songs/5(18).

  Although Shadows does not have a super hit on it like Sundown or Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, it does have a lot of real good songs in the Lightfoot tradition. 14 Karat Gold, Baby Step Back, Blackberry Wine and Triangle all set a mood for the listener/5(39).

  A surprisingly strong collection from Gordon Lightfoot six years after the hits had stopped, Shadows finds him shedding his folksinger image for that of an adult contemporary singer. There are keyboard textures here where previously there had been all stringed instruments.
